Dept of Multilingual Summer Curriculum Work

ELD Curriculum Work
Beginning ESL  and Advanced ESL will be redesigned for grades 6-12.  Standards aligned thematic units with aligned texts and assessment will be available for September 2019.  Updates on the curriculum development will be made by August.

VISION update the UBD to support shifts in practices around collaboration and coteaching.



Dual Language Summer 2018 Curriculum Work

CLM Middle School Units of study are being created this summer for the Spanish Units.  Each grade (6 and 7) will offer students units 1, 3 and 5 in Spanish consistent with the elementary grades.
Units will include completed Language Workshop Planners and may include the selection of LDG texts and some planners.

CLM English Unit Launches for Language Learners in grades 2-5 are being written to include Language Objectives, tiered scaffolds for entering through bridging learners.

Biliteracy Continuum (Word Study and Language Arts) for both BUFS and CLM units across languages will start it's review with the intention of aligning the skills in the continuum's to a framework/lesson design that supports instruction.

ELD/Dual Language 1st Grade will begin the work to align to the new science units with a coherent, skills based English Development Curriculum.  

Dual Language Geometry course will be adapted for delivery and assessment in Spanish.

AP Dual Language Seminar course will be written to include syllabus, learning objectives, resources, assessment.

Dual Language Professional Development Revamp
Teaching for Biliteracy is being re-written for each of the 5 sessions.  Sessions 1-2 will be held on August 22 as an Intro.  Session 3 will be run as a TDP in October with a focus on Oracy.  Session 4 will be run as a TDP in November with a focus on Meta-Linguistic Awareness.  Session 5 will be held in January with a Focus on Teaching for Biliteracy in the Math Classroom.
