Seal of Biliteracy and Global Education Update

We are on our way to awarding the State of Wisconsin's first recipients of the Seal of Biliteracy. Seniors who are able to demonstrate excellence in English and a partner language will soon be invited to learn more about the process for application.

So how does a learner qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy?

Learners must demonstrate that they have the following capacity:
  • Investigate the world beyond their immediate environment.
  • Recognize/Weigh their own and others’ perspectives.
  • Communicate ideas effectively with diverse audiences in English and one partner language.
  • Translate their ideas into appropriate actions to improve conditions, i.e. they have taken action
  • They are Seniors
  • They are service learners

The GLOBAL EDUCATION WORK TEAM would like to update the status of the work:

January: Identification of eligible and potentially eligible Seniors
February: Information Sessions and Student Commitment
March: AAPPL Assessment for those who need to demonstrate Partner Language Excellence
